Isn’t the Bible outdated?

Normally, something written centuries ago by people who lived in a different time and place would, to some degree, be out of touch with the issues and developments of the present day.  But with the Bible, it’s important to understand that it describes itself as more than simply a book written by people. We understand both the Old and New Testaments to be “theopneustos,” a Greek word that means “God-breathed.” So even though God spoke through those who recorded the Scriptures as they addressed certain situations long ago, God is the ultimate source and author of the Bible.  And because truth is not relative to any time or place, the principles of the Bible are as relevant now as they were many years ago.
